Andrew Quinn is an Australian computer graphics artist and musician, living in Milan. He has worked on digital effects for films such as “The Matrix” and “Tomb Raider”, “Nirvana” and “Vajont”.

In the last few years he specializes in video installations for multi screen and immersive environments and also digital graphics for interactive dance productions and contemporary music, including the series Koine’ for Pomeriggi Musicale at Teatro Dal Verme, Milano in 2011 and the 2012 Biennale of Music in Venice, and virtual sets in 3D stereo for a production of Bartok’s “Bluebeard’s Castle” for the Budapest State Opera in 2011.

In 2013-2014 he is artistic adviser for the Multimedia Competition for young composers and video artists at the San Fedele Cultural Institute in Milan. In 2013 he created interactive visuals for a dance performance at the Melzo International film Festival In 2014 he created live visuals for a performance of “Children’s Corner” by Debussy and “Pictures at an Exhibition” in Lecce with the Tito Schipa Symphony orchestra followed by a concert of contemporary music at the Meyerhold Cultural Center in Moscow, then in august 2014 he created virtual sets utilizing projection and LED strips for a performance of Monteverdi’s “L’Orfeo” in Canberra Australia and in November performs live visuals for 3 concerts in Russia for the Moscow Conservatorium of Music, using live video and again LEDs.

He produced content in September 2014 for a video mapping project using laser scanning techniques for 3d modelling. December included a 3 stop tour of Russia performing live visuals for three contemporary composers from the Moscow Conservatory and again in Moscow, October 2015. In November 2015 he performed at the RomaEuropa festival live visuals for “Pictures at an Exhibition” played by a progressive rock band led by Enrico Gabrielli.

In 2015 and 2016, he performs of a series works by Bernard Parmigiani using video mapping and audio reactive visuals. In april 2015 an interactive installation for Salone dei Mobili in Milano, using double screen projection, morrors, LED panel and Kinect. Upcoming projects include a progressive rock version of “The Planets” by Holst (November 22), an interactive installation, “Deep Dream” at the RomaEuropa festival in a mirrored labyrinth, (October 6) and a concert dedicated to the music of Gerard Grisey for the 2016 Biennale della Musica in Venice with the Ensemble Orchestral Contemporain (October 14).

He has lectured and given workshops in interactive visuals at IED and NABA, Milan, Quasar Institute of Design, Rome and the Australian Film School, Sydney, ANU Canberra, UIAV in Venice and for UCLA, plus numerous workshops for leading realtime visuals software TouchDesigner. In January 2016 he teaches a workshop at the Milan Conservatorium of Music followed by a workshop at sensiLab, Monash University Melbourne, for students of art, music and computer science. In June he gives a masterclass at the MARs center for contemporary art in Moscow.

Also in 2016 he created an innovative course in interactive media and sound reactive visuals for teenagers ending with a short performance for parents and friends.
